A truck driver at Morris Lubricants is celebrating twenty-five years of service at the leading independent oils, lubricants and greases manufacturer.
Colin Kirkham, who joined the company back in 1997, clocked up the quarter of a century milestone during May. It is thought that Colin has delivered a massive 33 million litres of the world-famous Morris Lubricants oil during his time with the company.
Colin admits that it hasn’t all been plain sailing over the years, as he commented: “During my first few days, I didn’t think I would be here long! But somehow, here I am, twenty-five years later!” before adding, “On the whole, I have had a good time here. I’m lucky to work with a great group of people who have made the job an enjoyable one.”
Despite the lengthy service, Colin has remained as healthy as ever, which is something that Executive Chairman Andrew Goddard is eager to praise: “In all of his service, Colin has never had a day off sick, which is incredible. He is a fantastic member of the team and we would like to thank him for the time he has been here, and long may it continue!”
Before Transport Manager Graham Fewtrell added: “We couldn’t ask for a better driver or person than Colin. He takes pride in the appearance of his truck and looks after it like it’s his own vehicle.”
As a Shrewsbury-local, Colin is proud to have served the Shrewsbury-based company for a large section of his life but plenty has changed on the trucks in his time. He added: “The job has changed a fair amount. The trucks are so much more advanced nowadays and the range of different oils, lubricants and greases that Morris Lubricants supplies has grown so much over the years. It’s been great to work for such a famous, local company.”
