Morris Lubricants Once Again Celebrate Heritage Railway Association Awards
Morris Lubricants were thrilled to continue sponsorship for the Heritage Railway Association (HRA) Awards during 2023.
The recognised awards ceremony, which took place at the Birmingham Conference and Events Centre, are recognised as the 'Oscars' of Heritage Rail industry. The attendees and all those involved in the event celebrate with incredible pride, all that is great in the heritage rail industry. The awards honour the exceptional achievements of railways, tramways, cliff railways, rolling stock groups and the talented heritage rail individuals who help maintain and operate these historical machines and buildings.
Morris Lubricants is proud to support the event and continues to build on its reputation in the heritage and steam industry, with the company being a key manufacturer and supplier of steam and heritage oils, lubricants and greases. These quality products have a wide number of uses and applications and the range includes bearing oils, cylinder oils and sentinel crankcase oils, all designed for use in heritage and steam engines.
As well as being a manufacturer and distributor of specialist steam engine products, Morris Lubricants have for a very long time been a huge supporter of the heritage and steam industry. The company created the Heritage Railway Support Scheme to help keep steam railway stations like Talyllyn Railway, operational when they needed help the most, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Morris Lubricants also supported the creation of Talisman, a classic steam engine created from scratch by steam expert Alex Sharphouse. Last year Talisman was put fully to the test and completed its first major pull of 50-ton steam engine around 50 miles of the Lake District.
At this year’s HRA awards, Morris Lubricants sponsored the Coiley Locomotive Engineering Award, which is awarded to a HRA member who has completed an outstanding engineering project in the field of locomotive overhaul, restoration or preservation. HRA Chairman Brian Simpson, presented the award to the winners Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway, for their restoration of 0-4-2ST Premier. The 1905-built Kerr Stuart was painstakingly returned to as-built condition from photographic evidence and returned to steam on the former papermill line. The level of detail shown and the commitment from a small team at the SKLR saw the little ‘Brazil’ class machine triumph over a string of famous competitors.
