Morris Lubricants Supporting Future Talent
In June Morris Lubricants attended the ‘Future Leaders’ careers day at Shrewsbury School, an interactive careers event designed to inspire the students, and to provide clarity on the steps they can take to achieve their career goals. A number of different industries were involved throughout the day including law, agriculture, engineering, finance, motorsport, and marketing, to name a few.
Morris Lubricants Technology Manager, Adrian Hill, was a speaker in one of the workshops that the students attended. In his presentation, the students were shown the history of Morris Lubricants, how it is one of the largest privately owned lubricant companies in Europe and all of the different sectors Morris Lubricants manufactures and supplies its products to, including Agricultural, Off-highway, Commercial Vehicle and Automotive.
His talk went into detail on how Morris Lubricants is trying to reduce its environmental impact and offered insight how the lubricants industry can be seen to become a part of the solution, not the problem when it comes to the climate crisis. All of this builds upon the recent success the company has had in attaining the Ecovadis Silver award due to changing sustainable practices for the better, such as using 100% recyclable materials in a selection of its product packaging and the use of on-site solar power generated electricity.
Adrian continued with his presentation and spoke about the many different people at Morris Lubricants the varying roles they operate and how long serving employees are a testament to the company and its values. Morris Lubricants is very proud of its employees and has a continued focus to nurture talent whether it be through graduate schemes, apprenticeships or through courses with the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce. Owen Lloyd, Morris Lubricants' Chief Operations Officer, first came to Morris Lubricants on a graduate scheme, he is now a key member of the senior management team and has further progressed his own career by becoming a member of the Charted Institute of Procurement and Supply and also won the UKLA young employee of the year award in 2019.
Morris Lubricants has plans to continue to invest in employees, down whichever path they may take in their career. As explained by Adrain “It’s an exciting time to be working in the lubricants industry because everything is changing. Recruiting young, intelligent and talented people is our insurance policy for the future”.
