Recently, Morris Lubricants were delighted to train six mental health first aiders.
The company has recognised the importance of having trained mental health first aiders to support the mental health and well-being of the Morris Lubricants team.
The first aiders were trained over a two-day course with Mental Health First Aid England and are now equipped with the skills required to recognise and support their own and their colleague's well-being.
The company began this process acknowledging the importance of mental health and well-being for its employees, as well as the importance of introducing a support structure to ensure the Morris Lubricants team has a platform to talk to someone if they need help.
The new mental health first aiders were recruited from different departments across the company to ensure mental health and well-being support is easily accessible to all employees should they feel that it is needed.
In addition to this, to improve access to, and promote mental health and well-being support to employees, the company has placed notifications on the company intranet as well as posters identifying the mental health first aiders to make sure employees are aware how to reach out and who they can speak to.
As part of the introduction process, drop-in support sessions for all employees have been made available. This is an opportunity to introduce the new team to employees and explain the role of a mental health first aider.
