Two Morris Lubricants Racing Ambassadors returned to competition at the weekend as Ashleigh Morris returned for the first time in over a month at the Jim Clark Reivers Rally and Luke Harris was again competing in the 250cc class at Frittenden in Kent.
Luke Harris
Nine-times British Grasstrack Champion Luke Harris was competing in Kent over the weekend as he headed to Frittenden. Entering the 250cc Class, Luke trialled engines and bikes, to aim for optimum performance. Despite the engine on his bike not being perfect, he still managed a win in his first race, before switching bikes and picking up a win from the back, as despite a slow start, Luke went from fourth place to first in the second race. In the third and final race of the qualifiers, the race was much more competitive and Luke managed to pick up the win, going unbeaten before moving into the final as top scorer. In the final, Luke made a better start, dominating the race for the majority and picking up the win and the victory overall, staying unbeaten all day.
Luke will take this confidence into the next meeting at the Vintage Motorcycle Club on 12th June.
Ashleigh Morris
Reigning Scottish Rally Championship Ladies Champion Ashleigh Morris, was in action at the Jim Clark Reivers Rally, which took place around Dunsin the Scottish Borders. The event was one that Ashleigh was looking forward to, having not competed there before. Competing solidly until stage 4, where Ashleigh was well in the mix for the podium places in her class, but a puncture stopped all the momentum that Ashleigh had. Despite changing the tyre and losing time, Ashleigh finished the stage and the rest of the rally, a few minutes behind the majority of the rest of the class.
Ashleigh will now be looking forward to her next rally at Argyll at the end of June, where she will be aiming to get through the rally without any punctures or mechanical issues.
